II. The working principle of the engine crankshaft The engine crankshaft is a part that releases energy from the combustion chamber and then converts it into a rotational force. The rotation of the crankshaft mainly relies on the inertial action of the connecting rod assembly unit and the flywheel mass. In the combustion chamber, the engine fuel is compressed and ignited, releasing energy and pushing the piston up and down in the cylinder. When the piston transmits the force, the crankshaft rotates downwards. The part of the steel material on the crankshaft is stretched, and the part of the steel material under the crankshaft is compressed. When the crankshaft rotates upwards, it is just the opposite. This regular stretching and compression can make the crankshaft withstand high-intensity repeated pressure for a long time, while providing sufficient rigidity and flexibility to adapt to various speeds and load conditions. When the crankshaft rotates, the connecting rod is pushed to rotate back and forth. At the other end of the connecting rod, the piston head has been moving in the cylinder. The rotation of the crankshaft converts the linear motion of the connecting rod into the reciprocating piston motion, which is called the crankshaft output. The output speed of the crankshaft is determined by the engine speed. III. Common faults of the engine crankshaft Although the design and durability of the engine crankshaft are very good, it is not completely immune to faults.Common crankshaft failures include fatigue cracks, bending, distortion and damage. In the event of distortion or damage to the crankshaft, the engine performance will be affected, which may cause the engine to not work properly and eventually lead to engine failure. At the same time, while keeping the engine normal, we also need to maintain and replace the crankshaft regularly. According to the vehicle manufacturer's recommended maintenance plan, the crankshaft should be replaced every 50,000 to 100,000 miles to ensure the best performance and life of the engine.
